Not Not Tacos by Sam the Cooking Guy

If you’re looking for a different taco experience, look no further than Not Not Tacos. At this Little Italy food hall restaurant each taco tells unique story. And they’re not Mexican inspired tacos, hence the name - Not Not!

Actually, this place was recommended to me by a good friend. And being located at Little Italy’s Piazza della Famiglia makes it a great place to lounge and take in the the best of San Diego.

Read on and learn about the tacos that won over my heart.

My Initial Reaction

Less than half a second into taking a bite of the Sunday Chicken Dinner Taco, I was blown away! Tasted like my Yiayia’s chicken and potatoes. While I was ordering I asked and found out they use the chicken thigh meat, which you know is the tastiest.

Then I moved on to my second taco - the Marinated Lamb. This one won me over because it’s basically a Greek taco. Tasted pretty sharp as Lamb is an acquired taste, but paired with tzatziki it was just wonderful.

And for my last taco I ate the Smokey Pork and Mac! Definitely the most filling of them all. Tasted like a little barbecue all in one handful. And the pairing of ingredients from pork to mac topped off with hot sauce was simply delectable.

My friend had the Cashew Chicken and Korean Short Rib tacos, pictured above, which looks so good that I will return to try!

Final Thoughts

Each taco was a little masterpiece. And each was held together with a lovely flour tortilla instead of a corn tortilla because the chef didn’t want to overpower while allowing the other ingredients to shine.

While ordering I noticed the restaurant’s branding included Sam “The Cooking Guy”. I remember seeing him on TV when I was growing up in San Diego. So, I was pleasantly surprised to see his latest success. Good for him!

I will be back to eat the other taco offerings. Because I want to taste all the different little culinary combinations. So, I highly recommend visiting and tasting for yourself! Kali orexi - Vassili
