I’m back in NY and had to return to Michelangelo Pizza and Restaurant of Speonk. This time I tried a calzone thanks to my friend Shambhu’s recommendation. I’ve never had such a delicious calzone than at this italian eatery on the east end of Long Island.
I loved how crispy and sturdy the crust was, and it contrasted so well with the melted mozzarella and ricotta. The sauce was a full bodied marinara sauce and tasted like it was made from scratch. It was the cherry on top. Something you have to try!
Shambhu says they’re well known locally and all of their food is really good. Michelangelo’s is a family-run restaurant that has been around for a long time with much experience. In fact, the chef in charge, Joe Guardascione, has more than 35 years of cooking experience. And the flavors really show it. This place offers an authentic taste of Italy. Nothing like your large chain italian eateries.
The south fork eatery also serves ready to go meals such as Neapolitan and Sicilian style pizza slices with an extensive variety of pizza toppings, garlic knots, etc. you can access their menu here.
I also dined at their Mattituck location in north fork, one of their three Long Island restaurants, and it was just as exceptional.
I hope you indulge at Michelangelo’s soon!
