Moussaká is a classic Greek dish I finally got around to dishing up which I now highly recommend! Comprised of three layers including ground beef sauce and béchamel, moussaká is similar to pastitio, but instead of a layer of pasta contains a layer of vegetables such as eggplants, potatoes and zucchini.
Grab an outstanding recipe for scrumptious moussaká on mygreekdish.com, a website offering authentic and traditional Greek recipes as well as nutritional advice.
My advice is perhaps adapting the recipe and including zucchinis instead of the 6 eggplants the recipe suggests. Therefore, just 3 eggplants and 3-4 large zucchini. Also, after baking moussaká needs some time to tighten up. So, it’s a good idea to make this dish right after breakfast on a weekend.
My yiayia says many of our Greek relatives make moussaká on a weekly basis and her sister Katina starts slicing vegetables and preparing the ingredients each Sunday morning.
I wish you a happy Spring and even happier suppers. Enjoy - Kali Orexi!
