I recently visited King and Queen Cantina in Little Italy, a trendy neighborhood in San Diego. This restaurant just opened in Fall 2017 under the ownership of Jorge Cueva, a restaurateur with more than 25 years in the industry.
As soon as you walk in this restaurant it's a fiesta unlike any other you've experienced. Everything was vibrant, from the art to the young clientele and most importantly the menu.
The level of detail in the menu shows they really took the time to consider only the best by offering affordable options worthy of their clients.

I ordered the enchiladas with chipotle braised chicken breast, corn tortillas, tomatillo sauce, lime crema and black sesame seeds.
These were genuinely the best enchiladas I’ve ever had. This meal was so delicious I thought I have to make this at home. What blew me away was the sauce. It was so well done with flavor out of this world. This meal was exceptional.
As I walked out of the restaurant I noticed the chef hanging out by bar. I pointed this out to my friend Shambhu who then yelled out, “this guy wants to know what’s in the enchilada sauce”.
The chef wasn’t hesitant and revealed what I thought would be secret ingredients: tomatillo, serrano pepper, green onion and sour cream.
After eating this delicacy, I knew I’d have to come back very soon. Heck, I’d easily recommend this place to family and friends.
I’m going to soon work on recreating the experience I had in the restaurant. First, I'l google top enchiladas recipes and see which recipe has the above-mentioned ingredients. I'll let you know how close I get.
